Burgeoning

Anyone know what that word means?

I'll use it in a sentence, because it's pretty easy to figure out:

Brand equity is a burgeoning field.

Web definition provided by Webster:

Bourgeon (v): 2-To grow and expand rapidly. Synonym: flourish.

So how about that?  You have a cool new word for "flourish" now.

I thought it was exciting...

I've always liked that word. Here's how I would use it: "My distaste for school is burgeoning."

yeah, i think flourish is better, unless you use it like chess did, because I feel like burgeoning could have a negative connotation while flourish would have a positive one!

burgeoning reminds me of something gross about to pop.
