You Are Here

USU has a quad. It's a big field of grass separated into four sections by two long sidewalks going north to south and east to west. In the middle of the intersecting sidewalks, there's a red circle with a white star in it. I'm not sure if it really says "You Are Here," but when I picture it in my head, I see some worn paint on the sidewalk with those words.

And regardless if it says "You Are Here," that's what I think every time I see it.

I kinda wish I had one of those everywhere I went. Because sometimes I feel lost. I'd like a little star to comfort me and tell me I'm somewhere familiar, or at least to tell me where I am so that I can get somewhere familiar. I'd like a star to remind me who I am and what I'm doing. I'd especially like a star to tell me where I last put down my phone. :)

Most of the time I do have a stars. Stars come in all shapes and forms. Some are brighter than others. Sometimes clouds get in the way so I can't see them, but they are there. They're always there.

So I'm curious: what are your stars? What tells you "You Are Here?" I really want to know.

Dearest Brittany Michelle,

Do you stop to think that maybe you are someone else's star?

Just a thought, because I happen to know that it is true. You are a bright, brilliant shining star, in a vast 'sky' of people, surrounded by hundreds (more, as you get older) of others who will not only affect you, but look to you for guidance.

You are right: stars do come in all shapes and forms, and there will always be various clouds rolling in and/or out... but the stars will still be there, either seen, or unseen, you are so right!

The North Star is in the sky, but the Real True Star is in your heart.

And also in a soon-to-be 20-year-old niece.

You are loved, very very much, by many people, but none so much as your wacky family. *grin* (that last was meant only in the best possible way~)

Keep on lookin', Brittany... the stars will keep on shinin'... some even grow more brilliant as they age~

hehe, that is awesome! I wish I could see the big star on campus. Could you try to take a picture for me? I wish I could take a "you are here" star with me to China. Because I will be lost, mucho bueno

Waking up every morning tells me "You are Here"
Instead of being somewhere else that I could have been.
Fate, Luck and Love
Makes it possible for me to "Be Here"

so what you're really saying is that you want a gps for your birthday? :D

when doug brings me flowers or takes my hand first..it makes me feel like i am here.

when my daughters are bursting to tell ME something..it makes me feel like i am here.

when a niece or a nephew do or say something that makes me feel like i matter to them..it makes me feel like i am here.

listening to a thunderstorm, sitting on a mountain and seeing the view, playing a song perfectly on the organ, looking at something i made...those make me feel like i am here.
